Job Description: Insurance / Syndicate Accountant - 6mth Contract role
Home working based (with travel to Colchester office if required)
We are looking for an experienced Accountant who has Lloyd's market experience (ideally within a Syndicate) and is skilled in building / enhancing reconciliations and processes and of closing Ledgers.
Working in a team of 12, you'll report to the Finance Operations Manager and will undertake book keeping, administration and reporting tasks assigned to the Syndicate team in Colchester for all 3 Syndicates. You will be guided by other team members until you can fully perform the tasks allocated independently. The role provides strong opportunities to work across the Syndicate Finance team, to provide a broader knowledge of a Syndicate Finance function.
What you'll be doing in the role
Assist with the production of the ledger for all three Syndicates including the below tasks
Assist Finance Operations Manager in ledger review & close activities
Identify areas for process improvement and follow through to implementation
Maintain adequate controls over ledger data including:
Broker and Coverholder Reconciliations
Extensive Balance sheet Reconciliations
Ledger postings to GL and technical sub-ledger
Produce and maintain key controls and data governance documentation.
Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the business.
Person Specification: Our must haves
Be a qualified accountant and/or have relevant demonstrable experience in a senior accounting role.
Experience of working within the Insurance industry
Track record of process improvement
Can maintain excellent attention to detail on completion of ledgers financial outputs
Advanced Excel Skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines under pressure.
Nice to have
Experience working for a Lloyd's Syndicate
Proven track record of innovation and process development.
Oracle GL experience
