ILS Engineer

BAE Systems Maritime Services is a leading provider of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) services to both new build ship programmes and through-life support services to in service platforms, spanning the UK and Overseas defence sectors. We currently have a vacancy for a ILS Engineer at various sites.

As a member of the Type 26 Support Maintenance Engineering Team the position requires an Engineer to work across ILS maintenance activities including LORA, DRACAS, RCM (to derive maintenance schedules) and FMECA's to develop cost effective and optimised maintenance support solutions.

The position will normally be on-site at Portsmouth, Filton or Scotstoun, however, there will be the need for regular liaison with other project members across all sites as well as suppliers and sub-contractors in the UK and abroad.

Your main responsibilities as a ILS Engineer will involve:

Utilisation of project-held Reliability and Maintainability data

Producing technical reports to support your analysis and derived maintenance recommendations

Verification and validation of sub-contractor data deliverables to derive maintenance and the overall support solution

Conducting technical analysis using design and manufacturer's documentation

Working across supporting engineering disciplines to ensure a coherent output including technical publications, spares optimisation and design

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential skills:

Knowledge and experience of Electrical / Mechanical systems

Ability to read and analyse schematic diagrams

Ability to analyse technical problems and provide solutions

Possess strong verbal and written communication skills and work well in a team environment

Understand the importance of Integrated Logistics Support in supporting a product

Desirable Skills:

Understanding of the development of logistic support solutions

Familiar with Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) techniques and its application in the maritime domain across both platform and combat systems

Knowledge of FMEA's and FMECA's

Knowledge of ILS configuration and databases

Experience within a maintenance/maintainer role, from a marine environment such as: shipbuilding, Royal Navy or oil and gas

Knowledge of the Royal Navy Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS)
