Jacobs is supporting a key defence sector client in delivery of their Periodic Safety Review. We are identifying our best people to deliver this work.
As a result of increasing demand for our services, there are significant opportunities for you, as a Human Factors Consultant to support this key project.
We are recruiting a Human Factors Assessor to join the team in Thatcham. Human Factors design and safety case support to the Periodic Safety Review. The HF resource will need to be fully embedded / integrated with the Periodic Safety Review Project, in particular the design / engineering, ops and safety disciplines.
The key HF activities include Logging, tracking and closing off HF issues, actions and requirements.
Input to / justification of Allocation of Function decisions (particularly with respect to human physical and psychological capabilities)
Understanding the role of the operator
task analysis on key functions/tasks to inform design development, HF requirements capture and HF design advice
Providing ergonomic advice / review to aspects such as HMI, anthropometric assessment, glovebox design, maintenance tasks, access / egress, workspace layout, etc.
Input into the development of an operational philosophy
Input into optioneering / design of analytical techniques and proposed technologies.
HF safety case support, for example:
Input into the nuclear safety case strategy, utilising SL HF methodologies
Attendance at HAZOPs and input into fault identification
Input into allocation of safety function to operational controls
Input into the development of radiological, criticality and chemotoxic design safety assessments
High-level HF substantiation of safety significant tasks / operator claims.
HF support will also be required throughout the remaining project lifecycle, to ensure that the operator role is adequate and that the design outcome meets the user needs, accommodates for human psychological and physical characteristics and minimises the potential for human error and violations.Skills/Qualifications
Senior HF Assessor
Significant HF experience
Significant experience providing integrated HF design and safety case support in the nuclear industry
Significant knowledge and experience working within the UK nuclear regulatory framework
Ability to work autonomously and as part of integrated team
