The Government Solutions Business Unit of Jacobs provides engineering design, construction, planning, support, survey, design-build, project management and/or program management to our defence clients. With more than fifty years of experience across the defence lifecycle, we support client delivery and the associated requirements at every stage of a project.
We have multiple Systems Engineer roles available covering work on a number of Defence Infrastructure and Equipment projects mainly in the Greater Glasgow area although also elsewhere in the UK. We require Systems Engineers who enjoy working with the wider Project Team (including multiple disciplines), who has a commercial understanding as well as knowledge of MoD processes and procedures.
Key Responsibilities include:
Steering the Systems Engineering principles and processes through the project stakeholder's approval processes
Provision of SME advice to project stakeholders and project teams regarding the systems engineering processes
Capturing, validating and managing the project's requirements and V&V strategy and planning;
Ensuring consistency in approach to system, design and safety requirements capture and tracking;
Provision of SME advice and responsibility for interface management of systems;
Plan, develop, update Systems Engineering (SE) documentation i.e. RAMPs, SRDs, VVRMs, ITEAP, System Interface Documents, Integration Plans, Test Plans, Test Schedules, Acceptance Case Reports
Preparing presentations and representing SE in stakeholder meetings
Competency (or better) with IBM Rational DOORS
Your home office will be Jacobs Glasgow and dependent on role may require periodic or permanent travel to site. Subject to personal circumstances, site roles may be treated as a Jacobs' assignment attracting a standard set of T&Cs for travel and subsistence.Essential:
Bachelor's degree in a recognised engineering or science discipline
Knowledge, skills and competencies of SE principles, processes and products
Ability to develop and apply Systems Thinking
Ability to form working relationships within a multi-disciplinary environment
Ability to represent SE in stakeholder reviews/meetings
Ability to undertake travel to site
Excellent written and oral communication skills
UK National with ability to apply for SC Clearance
Master's degree in SE discipline
3 plus years of experience as an SE practitioner
Knowledge of the Knowledge in Defence (KiD) principles, processes and products
Previous SE role on a Ministry of Defence (MoD) project
Leadership and facilitation of development workshops
Experience of capability definition
Membership of an appropriate professional body
