West Midlands Police Firearms Operations Unit undertook over 3,000 armed deployments in 2018, and as such are one of the busiest firearms units in the country.
Between armed deployments, our officers are encouraged to assist with force priorities including the targeting of Serious Acquisitive Crime offenders.
We are a specialised firearms unit and do not undertake a 'dual-role' function.
You would be joining a fair and inclusive team, based near Birmingham City Centre, where we serve 2.8 million people in one of Europe's most diverse and challenging policing environments.
Subject to a fair and transparent process, there may also be future opportunities to progress your career in various specialisms: i.e. CTSFO, Close Protection or Firearms Instructor.
We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and hard-working individuals to join our team where in return, we can offer you the opportunity to use and develop the skills you have been trained in.
To apply, applicants must be: Substantive in the rank of Constable Serving (or have served) with a Home Office Force Be a current Authorised Firearms Officer, trained to the National ARV Role Profile Standard in-line with the current National Police Firearms Training Curriculum Be able to pass the JRFT to level 9-4 on application Be able to evidence operational competence at interview Be able to pass the necessary vetting and occupational health checks Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues Recruitment Process:
Application Form Assessment day, fitness test and interview Pre-employment checks Final offer After transfer, a two week WMP ARV conversion course commencing 2nd September. ( Applicants must be available for these two weeks).
