Job Description: Syndicate Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Manager
Reporting to: Head of FP & A and MI London Markets
The role sits within the London Market Finance and MI team which is part of the broader Finance function. The Finance team is the centre of excellence for reporting and analysis across the Business Unit and it supports the London Market business and the broader Hiscox Group to understand the financial performance of the business and drive strategic decision making.
You will be the FP&A manager for three Syndicates performing a complex and diverse role that involves working across multiple business units and managing a variety of senior internal and external stakeholders as well as managing the relationship with Lloyd's Business Performance and Lloyd's HSL account executive.
The role currently has one direct report.
You'll oversee the collection of data, creation and submission of Syndicate YoA business plans and all associated documentation to Lloyd's and ensure alignment to business unit plans where possible and/or documentation of drivers of divergence
Oversee and manage the creation of the Syndicate calendar year plans based on plans developed in individual business units
You'll develop and deliver regular performance analysis and commentary (working closely with the Syndicate finance team and local BU finance teams)
Act as the owner of the performance and planning "story" for each syndicate in monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual reports to both internal (HSL management team and HSL Board) and external (Lloyds, 3 rd party names) audiences
Proactively manage the relationship with Lloyd's Business Performance including developing and telling the financial performance story, pre-empting queries and concerns that might arise
Oversee engagement between Hiscox underwriting and Lloyd's oversight functions
Own the London Market business planning and forecasting process including creation of the plan, communicating with the business- both London Market and Group, loading of budgets to Oracle and playing back numbers to the London Market business unit
Person Specification: Skills/ Qualifications/ Experience required
Be a Degree level, qualified accountant with 5+ years of post-qualified experience. Those will less years but the requisite level of knowledge will naturally be considered.
Good knowledge of the non-life insurance market, business model and distribution channels
Experience in forecasting, planning, analysis and management accounting
Good technical aptitude with curiosity and desire to learn new tools and skills
You must have strong communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills.
Independent structured thinker, with critical analytical skills and ability to challenge
Experience of developing insight through data analytics tools and models
Strong Excel skills
Preferential / Advantageous
Lloyd's SBF planning process
Knowledge of Cognos suite of tools
Knowledge of Oracle EPBCS and use in an FP&A environment
Experience with Data Visualisation Packages such as Tableau would be desirable
Experience documenting processes and broader process improvement capabilities
Familiarity with SQL Server Management Studio and Microsoft SQL Server
