Don't let criminals profit from crime.
How do we ensure that crime doesn't pay? By taking the proceeds of crime out of the hands of criminals. As a financial intelligence officer you'll play an integral role in our team, helping to identify their ill-gotten gains. Join us and make a direct impact on organised crime networks. The team
The Financial Intelligence Development Unit (FIDU) is a small specialist team sitting within the MPS's Central Specialist Economic Crime Command. Staff in the FIDU receive and assess financial intelligence from banks, building societies and other parts of the regulated financial sector where there are suspicions of fraud, money laundering or a risk of significant harm to vulnerable persons. The role requires assessment of the information received and decisions made as to whether further investigation or intervention is required. The role
In this challenging but rewarding role, you'll help remove the proceeds of crime from organised criminal networks. Using sensitive financial information provided by the National Crime Agency (NCA), you'll carry out enquiries, building financial intelligence that will inform our decisions about money laundering investigations. Your work will help prevent harm coming to vulnerable people and will ensure that crime doesn't make the criminals better off.
With experience of dealing with money laundering and financial and fraud investigations, you'll be an accredited financial intelligence officer (or willing to work towards this). You'll know about civil recovery processes, Unexplained Wealth Orders, Account Freezing Orders and the Criminal Finances Act 2017. You can also conduct enquiries, working methodically, organising your workload and meeting strict statutory time limits. Able to use databases, you'll be fully IT-literate - and keen to play your part in bringing offenders to justice.
