Job description

Working with the Team Lead, sub-team lead and stakeholders across the Local Land Charges Programme and Business Intelligence Team to build on existing work in the analytical space, in particular:
- provide expert advice to inform decision making, approaches and/or to resolve difficulties
- make full use of existing data and develop new, often complex data flows, to provide high quality analytical insight;
- adopt analytical best practice, utilise experience of a variety of analytical techniques and help deliver a strong QA culture;
- understand different data structures and use relevant programming skills to interact effectively with the MI database.

Acting as the initial point of contact for analysis/modelling relating to Local Land Charges, and in particular take ownership of:
- proactively gathering information from stakeholders to identify their analytical requirements
- create and maintain delivery plans and track progress against key milestones.
- review data, and work with stakeholders to resolve anomalies or gaps.
- help to ensure projects are well managed and fully documented, prioritising tasks appropriately and managing stakeholder expectations;
- Act as point of contact for governance and reporting.
- communicating analysis and its context with impact to different audiences including Programme Directors

Where an individual taking up the responsibility will be based in Swansea Office, the ability to speak Welsh is desirable.

Attendance at meetings and conferences across the HM Land Registry estate and at other locations will be a feature of this role, including occasional travel and overnight stays. This will be in line with government advice.

ResponsibilitiesYou will have experience of working with large and complex datasets, developing (often innovative) complex MI and analytical/modelling insight in support of operational decision-making in a delivery organisation, having managed at least one high profile analytical project.

You will have a good understanding of analytical/modelling techniques and database storage/extraction routines (using one or more of: SQL, VBA, VB.net, R or Python), with strong experience of senior stakeholder engagement to understand needs and manage expectations. You will have had exposure of analytical quality assurance, while working under tight deadlines. You will have advanced Excel and Power BI capabilities. You will be an effective team player, who is an excellent communicator and enjoys presenting data analysis.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles , and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths, Ability, Experience and Technical skills.

If you pass the test, you will be invited to complete the full application form, where you will be asked to copy and paste your CV and complete a 250 word box on the Technical skills and qualification, to evidence how you meet the below criteria:
The ability to extract key performance data from large and complex data sets in order to report on performance and trends in a clear and visual manner using Excel and Power BI tools

You will also be asked to complete a statement of suitability (in no more than 750 words). You will be asked to demonstrate evidence of how you meet the below 'essential' experience criteria (as detailed within the job description):
Experience of working with large and complex datasets
Experience of developing (often innovative) complex MI and analytical/modelling insight in support of operational decision-making in a delivery organisation, having managed at least one high profile analytical project
A good understanding of analytical/modelling techniques and database storage/extraction routines (using one or more of: SQL, VBA, VB.net, R or Python)

In the event of a high volume of applications, an initial sift will be conducted on the below essential 'Technical' criteria:
The ability to extract key performance data from large and complex data sets in order to report on performance and trends in a clear and visual manner using Excel and Power BI tools

The sift will take place week commencing 29 November 2021. If you are successful at sift, then you will be invited to attend a blended video interview and pre-prepared presentation, week commencing 13 December 2021, which will be held remotely through MS Teams. Further information will be provided to those who are selected to interview.

The blended interview will test the behaviours and essential experience criteria listed in the job description. As well as the strengths associated with the role; we want to hear your first, unrehearsed, natural response to strength questions, and so we dont advertise which strengths are being tested.
