As a Software Engineer here, you'll sit within a growing delivery team optimising user and member experience, working at the heart of our IT estate on our Core Banking applications. We are looking for experienced software engineers to help develop our internal SAP capability, so if you have any of the following skills, we're keen to hear from you.
Who we're looking for
You. We hope, anyway. We are looking for Software Engineers who can operate over the full lifecycle from Design through to Implementation and have the experience to shape solutions and coach other engineers. We are looking for people with a strong hands-on track record as a software engineer, with experience in application design and development. You will initially be assuring the design and development of SAP Banking Services solutions and the interfaces between our Core Banking system and the rest of the estate.

You should have demonstrable experience in aspects of: • Functional Analysis and Design of at least one of the following SAP functions: - SAP Banking Services platform, SAP Deposit Management, Master Contract Management, Business Partner, SAP Enterprise Services or SAP Business Warehouse. However consideration may be given to candidates with demonstratable FI/CO skills who are interested in cross-training • Technical knowledge or experience of the SAP ABAP Programming Language is desirable • An appreciation of Software Development Lifecycles and knowledge of Agile and DevOps• Performance and resilience related architecture and design activities • Engineering of IT solutions to meet Business requirements • An ability to support Live incidents • Experience of working in multi-tier IT architectures • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, effective at all levels • The ability to quickly understanding problems and provide root cause analysis and resolution • An ability to understand and articulate complex problems to both technical and non-technical teams • An understanding of Retail Banking and the Banking Services Industry • Experience working with both onshore & offshore resources
What you'll be doing
You will be involved in all phases of the Software Development Lifecycle, thinking end to end. You will be working with teams of engineers to deliver both technical and design outcomes as well as collaborating across other technical delivery and support areas, providing advice and consultancy.

• Engagement with programmes & projects to provide expert input into all aspects of the lifecycle, from early life through to production support • Accountable for Detailed Functional & Technical Design• Engineering of Software solutions, including design & code reviews • Understanding the business impact of technical problems and be comfortable making risk assessments • Proactively contributing to the evolution of Software Engineering within Nationwide
