So what's the role all about?

To manage three in-house electricians and collectively deliver an effective, electrical testing/inspecting and remedial program on occupied dwellings and communal systems. Deliver power and lighting works as highlighted by the building services team and provide technical assistance to other departments when required.

This role can offer hybrid working, meaning you will be required to be in the office for around 2/3 days a week with the rest being from home, however we may need you to be in the office more within your probation, whilst you get up to speed.

Some of the key tasks and responsibilities include:
  • To organise and manage the EICR programme.
  • Supervise and carry out Electrical testing and Inspecting.
  • Inspect work to ensure compliance with standard procedures and electrical assignments.
  • Potential call out and weekend work.
  • Contribute to the effective and efficient running of the Divisions, achieving targets and objectives.
  • Attend evening meetings and committee meetings where required.
  • Advising colleagues of any issues found whilst visiting properties.
  • Project a positive image of PA Housing by providing an excellent level of customer service to all customers.

To be successful in this role, we'd be looking for the following...
  • City & Guilds 17th Edition (Essential)
  • Level 3 Electro technical studies City & Guilds 2330 or equivalent (Essential)
  • BS 5266 Part 1
  • BS 5839 Parts 1, 4 & 5
  • City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent (Essential)
  • Asbestos awareness training
  • A good understanding of IEE requirements
  • A good knowledge of health and safety requirements.
  • Experience in all types of electrical installation (Pyro, Conduit & Trucking and PVC)

This role of requires the successful candidate to complete a basic DBS check. A basic DBS check will show any unspent convictions.

So why do we need to know this information? This role will be required to visit / support PA Housing residents in their own homes on a regular basis. Therefore we have a duty to our residents to ensure that we have taken precautions regarding who will be visiting them and representing PA Housing.

Having unspent convictions will not necessarily preclude you from being recruited into the role; if you are potentially the successful candidate, we will complete a risk assessment with you to understand the circumstances around your conviction, how relevant they are to the post you have applied for and what remedial action , if any, have you have taken since your conviction. Suitable references will also need to be obtained prior to commencement of employment.
