Salary: 26,350 Subject to meeting the required criteria for a fully qualified accountant, this post attracts a 17% Recruitment and Retention Allowance + substantial pension and benefits GBP

The Challenge

Major Programmes & Projects (MPP) is responsible for delivering capital works projects across the world, constructing a vast range of buildings and infrastructure to support the Armed Forces. You will be part of an inclusive finance team who partner delivery teams to provide accurate forecasting, financial support and future financial planning. Its an interesting dynamic area, where you will have exposure to multi billion-pound programmes and can enjoy working with commercial and delivery as well as finance professionals. MPP is accountable for ensuring adherence and conformity with all agreed DIO TLB processes & operating procedures, particularly those which are detailed under the key infrastructure process for Finance!

The role is responsible for providing financial assistance to both the Clyde and Navy/DE&S Finance Teams. The post in DIO finance is responsible for key finance processes, including maintaining financial records, journaling transactions, making payments, assisting with the interrogation of financial systems and the provision of financial support relating to In-Year Management including the Annual Budgeting Cycle and Approvals. This role will provide useful skills and development for the breadth of infrastructure and MOD finance

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities

As a Finance Assistant in DIO you will assist the Finance Teams with the production of monthly forecasts to include, but not limited to:

Journal completion and uploading.
Completion of month end financial templates.
Production of financial reports from CP&F and IMS.
Extraction and Input of financial data to main Forecasting and Expenditure Actuals workbooks.
Carry out reconciliations on the system generated accruals, contacting relevant personnel to resolve.
Undertake accrual deep dive checks as directed by Senior Finance Managers.
updated monthly records with the latest expenditure, ensuring costs match latest trial balance information.
Update Approval limits by project when received.
For projects with multiple workstreams, track expenditure against approvals to ensure limits are not breached.
Complete VAT corrections as required within the current accounting period.
Responsible for the e-filing of team Multi-User Mailboxes.
Ad Hoc advice/taskings as required by the Project Managers and Finance Team
Demonstrate a personal commitment to the DIO Guiding Principles.
Ensure local compliance with mandatory requirements.
Promote strong working relationships both within the team and with other teams across DIO and MoD.

Desirable Experience & Skills

It is desirable that the successful applicant has:
Experience currently working within a finance or accounting role
Knowledge of systems such as Information Management Systems (IMS), Contract Purchasing and Finance (CF&F) and Planning Budgeting and Forecasting (PB&F)

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure.

Our responsibilities include:
Plan and deliver major capital projects and lifecycle refurbishment

Manage soft facilities management (i.e. cleaning and catering)
