The Challenge

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Facilities and Projects Manager to be responsible for some of the most critical and interesting infrastructure in South East England. This is a key operational role and as such a member of the Regional Senior Leadership Team.
Based at RAF High Wycombe the Facilities and Project Manager will directly manage a sensitive building and advise on management of sensitive infrastructure across the SE Region. Being high profile and challenging, there will be a sense of achievement in delivering effective hard and soft facility management and construction projects and programmes up to 5m. Additionally, we are currently introducing a new Future Defence Infrastructure Services contracts which commences on 1st April 2022.
A key element is a close and collaborative working relationship with the customer/operators and Industry Partners. It will be essential to understand the operational needs and ensure that the infrastructure facilities have the resilience and capacity to deliver those key outputs. Working closely with our Hard and Soft service Industry Partners we seek to deliver the service, innovative and sustainable solutions.
Applicants should already hold or be prepared to undergo a high level of security clearance to Developed Vetting level.

Main Responsibilities

Engagement with customers at Senior Level to understand operational requirements
Customer Representative for delivery of Hard and Soft Services
Programme Manager for infrastructure projects up to 5m and management of programmes of integrated projects as part of a wider Regional programme.
Reporting progress of infrastructure projects and management of issues.
Assurance of both hard and soft delivery with particular focus on statutory compliance.
Monthly collation and reporting of hard and soft facilities in order to Co-chair monthly meeting with customer and contractors
Management of all local additional works service tasks arising from inspections and in response to local demands
Line Manage local Estate Facility Managers


Desirable Experience & Skills
Previous experience managing hard and soft service
We embrace Flexible Working and will provide the IT equipment to support remote working. However, this role will require significant (almost daily) site presence to engage with suppliers and customers on sensitive issues. There will be weekly travel to sites within the SE Region, with periodic opportunity to travel to interesting and varied locations within the UK, with occasional overnight stays.Full driving licence essential.

Employment hours
The post advertised is for 37 hours net, however the Ministry of Defence offers a range of flexibilities to enable a better work-life balance for employees. Flexible working and Job Share working patterns will be considered.

The Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) is the estate expert for Defence, supporting the armed forces to enable military capability by planning, building, maintaining, and servicing infrastructure.
