Job description



Applications are invited for a Course Manager to provide daily management of the EPSRC funded Centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in aerosol science, at the School of Chemistry, University of Bristol.

 

Within the role, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of the postgraduate training, including the elements in aerosol science, research methods and professionalism and translation, which run for the first 7 months of each academic year. After the training period in Bristol is complete, you will continue to support each cohort of students through facilitating cooperative learning group activities, overseeing placements with industrial partners, coordinating a series of research webinars and co-organising summer schools.

 

Reporting to and working with the Centre Director, you will coordinate and deliver the training courses and ensure the smooth running of the CDT and will assist in providing effective pastoral support to the cohort of students, referring them on for further help and/or guidance as necessary. You will also be responsible for liaising with the industrial partners of the CDT, particularly with regard to monitoring industrial placements.

In order to apply, you will need to have a relevant postgraduate research degree (or some professional equivalent) or be working towards one in an area of aerosol science, with skills and knowledge in relevant aspects of aerosol science with postgraduate experience in at least one of the five CDT themes (basic aerosol processes, measurement techniques, aerosols and health, aerosol technology and environmental aerosol). Experience of working with industrial partners, and awareness of the differences between research in academic and industrial contexts is also required.
