Salary: £41,307 - £54,556 depending on experience, plus car/car allowance

About the Department
Operations are responsible for keeping the lights on; we are at the front line on the Network. If we find a fault, it is our responsibility to respond to the fault, and dispatch our skilled teams to fix it as quickly as possible. We work in all hours, and through all weathers, ensuring our customers are never without power.
What is the Role
The Contractor Performance Manager is responsible for leading the contractor performance team comprising of quality and safety advisors, administrators and analyst, overseeing the use of contractors, providing contractor administration services, inspecting and monitoring contractor works, analysing safety and performance data and managing contractor performance across SEPD, spanning both regional works and large projects. You will provide direction to the L2/ L3 managers in the delivery units in regard to contractor performance and act as conduit between the business and contractors in regard to performance issues or escalations. This is a pivotal role for Operations ensuring the safety, quality and high performance of the contracted workforce.
You will drive value through innovation, implementing a continuous improvement philosophy and lead, develop and grow the skills and capability of your team(s) through rigorous implementation of performance management. You will drive success by empowering teams in line with the leadership blueprint.
What do I need?
The ideal candidate for this role will have sound business and technical knowledge of a Distribution business or similar market along with a detailed understanding of safety regulations and standards applied to the Utilities industry. A detailed understanding of Key Performance Indicators, ways to collect and analyse performance data, undertaking contractor reviews and ultimately experience in managing performance is a must for the advertised role. Previous experience of managing teams is a necessity for this role and you will have a proven track record of leading, motivating and coaching teams of contractors. You will also have previously operated within a customer driven environment, possessing excellent customer service skills.
To succeed in the role, you will need to be highly organised, resilient and able to have proactive discussions with contractors that would lead to high performance. You will have a disciplined approach to risk management, in-depth knowledge of safety regulations and be able to role model the required safety and quality standards to your direct team and the contractor workforce and instil a high-performance culture. You will be determined and controlled under pressure and possess excellent communication skills and ability to influence both contractors and senior managers of the company. Qualifications in project management, contract management or continuous improvement methods would be highly beneficial.
