Job description

Job Introduction
Radio Foyle is the BBC's multiple-award winning, multi-media production base in the North West of Northern Ireland. It is a speech-based service providing news, sport, music, conversation and entertainment. It is valued in particular for the quality of local information and voices, comprehensive news and sport coverage, stimulating debate, companionship and humour. Radio Foyle has a diverse output, so content assistants can be required to work across a variety of genres and lead a variety of teams.

Role Responsibility
This role is perfect for a dynamic and creative person at the beginning of his or her broadcasting or journalistic career to work as a content assistant. You will join Foyle's editorial team and provide on-air, on demand and online content that reaches and engages listeners across the North West, Northern Ireland and beyond.

You will help the production team set up the programmes by coming up with ideas, researching stories, finding suitable contributors, recording and editing interviews, editing programme websites, and undertaking administrative duties. You will provide support for live programmes, so you will be expected to coordinate the arrival of guests, process audience correspondence, and make on-air contributions in the form of pre-recorded vox pops or packages, or live reports. You will work across various types of programmes, and your working hours will vary so you will have a flexible approach to working.

Are you the right candidate?
As the ideal candidate for this role you will have strong journalistic skills and experience in developing creative ideas. You will be aware of researching techniques and used to being in pressurised environments. You will be comfortable with, and have a good knowledge of, social media along with a genuine passion and enthusiasm for radio.
