Job description

We are currently recruiting for Construction Managers with either high volume fit out and or traditional new build experience based inGlen Parva, Leicestershire. The Construction Managers, Contribute to the provision of knowledge in the implementation of project engineering operations, and / or on-site engineering services for the designated area to contribute to the completion of engineering assignments, and ensure delivery of construction projects within the agreed timeframe and budgetary parameters, in compliance with applicable standards and procedures and achievement of organisational objectives.

Construction
  • Prime responsibility for the safety of all site operations
  • Prepare tender & pre-construction method statements
  • Monitor health & safety documentation and complete safety inspections
  • Ensure all contractors are implementing method statements and operating safely
  • Direct the construction team to ensure that all supply chain contractors are coordinated and working to the construction programme and detail
  • Monitor the progress of construction works and amend the methodology in light of unforeseen circumstances to ensure that overall completion dates are met
  • Develop and implement a clear plan of action to achieve the above
  • Constantly review the build quality achieved ensuring that the client's requirements in this regard are fully met
  • Establish and manage a series of meetings with all contractors to ensure all are aware of the latest design detail
  • Coordinate the learning and development opportunities to the team


Key Tasks and Activities:
  • Develop and encourage an Incident and Injury Free climate on site and in the supply chain and ensure that all health and safety obligations, process and procedures are allocated to and delivered by the construction operations team
  • The Construction Manager is accountable for the supervision, direction and monitoring of day to day operations on site, ensuring that all contractors are coordinated and working effectively to the construction programme and detail and delivering the required quality
  • Monitor the progress of construction works and amend the methodology in light of unforeseen circumstances to ensure that overall completion dates are met
  • Monitor contractors' performance to ensure adherence to the Environmental Management Plan
  • Develop and implement a clear plan of action to achieve the above
  • Actively participate in all team meetings ensuring communication of changes affecting Safety, methodology or logistics
  • Constantly review the build quality achieved with the team ensuring that the contract's requirements in this regard are fully met
  • Ensure build ability issues are considered and given appropriate priority at procurement stage
  • Ensure accuracy of prelims with regard to safety, logistical issues and the management of environmental risks
  • Produce a schedule of all statutory authorities and manage the process of engagement and notifications as required
  • Support the Project/Assistant Manager to establish and manage a series of meetings with all contractors to ensure that they are fully aware of the latest design information (instructions, Request for Information answers etc)
  • Ensure accuracy of prelims with regard to safety, logistical issues and the management of environmental risks
  • Responsible for pre-planning and development of the site safety strategy, including all aspects of logistics.
  • Responsible for provision of a build ability and construction operations perspective to the review of all package tender documentation and decision making
  • Responsible for planning operations to enable a safe and efficient delivery of the project
  • In conjunction with contractors, prepare short term programme, linked to longer term deliverables, allowing contractors to plan the week ahead
  • Communicate and monitor safe delivery against weekly plan
  • Responsibility for demonstrating leadership, effective team working and contributing to the development of colleagues on the project
  • Determines the construction operations team structure, allocates responsibilities and manages the team to ensure optimum performance
  • Develop delivery metrics for all key trades packages and, working with the construction management team, ensure that actual delivery outputs are measured and reported
  • Ensure that the Construction operations processes and procedures are adhered to
  • Manage the relationship with the Clients technical and compliance representatives, ensuring that appropriate communication and actions take place and that the performance and reputation of the project is protected.
