About the Department
The Enterprise Division comprises four companies: Contracting, Rail, Telecoms and Utilities. The SSE Enterprise Projects and Operational Support Team support the entire Enterprise division leading the deployment of best practice in assurance, project management, engineering and in handling strategic projects.
SSE Enterprise Telecoms operates a 13,700km private telecoms network, with 265 Points of Presence and connectivity to over 80 commercial data centres that span the UK. With its extensive telecoms engineering experience, the company provides commercial security with unrivalled in-house engineering resource to Service Providers, Large Enterprises and the Public Sector providing a competitive range of leading-edge Ethernet, Cloud Connect, Optical Networking and Co-location services.
What is the Role
The Commercial Assurance role is responsible for leading all assurance aspects of the Commercial team. This will include establishing team governance that delivers measurables on the Commercial activities as well as supporting on the financial commitments for the team.
This role is critical to the overall success of the Commercial team by creating a framework to work towards that mitigates financial risk and maximises cost reduction and process efficiency opportunity by creating and owning the assurance processes to keep the teams both internal and external operating to guidelines.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a finance background to utilise their skills in a first business role. There is a great scope to implement a new structured approach and make your own mark on the business.
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, you will have previous experience in a finance-based role with demonstrable strong numerical skills being essential. You will also be conversant with forecasting figures to the wider business and therefore should have the ability to communicate financial information to non-finance departments. Solid commercial acumen and be familiarity with governance/process implementation are highly desirable.
You will be an exceptional communicator; highly resilient and very organised individual who is systematic in their approach. You will have the confidence to question and challenge proactively with clients and colleagues at all levels.
