Colleague Engagement and Listening Lead

Colleague engagement is front and centre of the Dixons Carphone business transformation strategy, with our belief that happy colleagues, means happy customers and in turn happy shareholders. In short, this role will lead the development and implementation of our ambitious new Colleague Engagement & Listening strategy which launched in late 2020.

A three year roadmap of activities has been defined at high level, aiming to transform our approach from one of a traditional annual engagement survey, to a more modern and continuous insights driven approach to engaging with and listening to our colleagues in order to better measure and improve colleague engagement across the business. Investment has been secured in a new external partnership with a global leader in employee engagement and a leading-edge survey platform to support, with our first Pulse survey successfully delivered in October 2020. We are now at a critical stage in reviewing lessons learned from this first new survey, further embedding our new tools and approach, and developing our plans for the coming year.

This is a perfect opportunity for someone with in-depth experience of leading colleague engagement initiatives and embedding the right tools to support the business, to join DC at a critical time in our business transformation strategy.

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
  • Lead the partnership with our new external colleague engagement platform providers (Glint)
  • Act as an internal subject matter expert and trusted advisor on effective approaches to improving colleague engagement
  • Develop and support internal engagement champions to fully enable adoption of new tools and build capability across the business to move towards a more self-service and agile approach to colleague listening.
  • Partner with the Senior People Analyst/HR systems teams on the preparation for, running of and conducting outcome analysis from cyclical colleague survey activity
  • Develop high quality reports and presentation materials for various stakeholder audiences including the PLC Board, and Executive Committee
  • Oversee a robust two-way communication plan with a regular drumbeat of activity which supports our aims bring colleague engagement and living our values to life across the business.


You will need:
  • A proven track record implementing colleague engagement initiatives which drive meaningful change/improvement, including the design, measurement and follow up of colleague listening/survey led activities over a multi-year period
  • Experience of working with internal HR information systems (in our case Success Factors)
  • Hands on experience of using engagement systems/platforms to identify patterns and trends.
  • A strategic thinker, with a demonstrable ability to quickly understand the "big picture" in order to shape and influence thinking about new and different approaches to engagement and culture
  • Lived experience of navigating complex organisations undergoing significant change
  • The agility to adapt approaches to organisational changes and resilience to overcome barriers in order to drive continued progress
