An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6  Mental Health Liaison Nurse to join the Mental Health Liaison Team  based at University College London Hospital.

The Mental Health Liaison Service provides a 24-hour service, 7 days a week to University College London Hospital offering urgent assessment and intervention to patients attending the Emergency Department and those admitted to the inpatient wards. The service works closely with UCLH staff in a variety of medical settings.

You must have excellent clinical skills, be able to demonstrate an ability to complete comprehensive mental state examinations, thoroughly assess risk, formulate safe and effective risk management plans and document this clearly. You should have experience of mental health emergencies, and crisis care in a variety of settings including community.

You will be able work autonomously, carrying out short term interventions and making independent decisions.

You will hold a sound working knowledge of common mental health disorders, the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act. A sound knowledge of the interface between physical and mental health is essential.

You must have very good communication and interpersonal skills. The applicant must be able to work well under pressure and respond to competing demands. You must also be experienced and motivated, flexible and be able to show initiative in a challenging & busy environment.
