About the Team
The team consists of a Head of Catastrophe Exposure Management, a Risk Manager, two Senior Analysts, two Risk Analysts, a Lead Researcher and Research Analyst. It is part of a wider Underwriting Risk and Reinsurance function led by the Director of Underwriting Risk & Reinsurance, reporting to the Group CUO.
The teams goals are:
Define the risk appetite framework for cat perils
Monitor against internal and external limits
Provide cat bet analytics (bang for buck)
Meet regulatory and rating agency reporting requirements
Set and oversee exposure management standards for the group
Support capital modelling and RI analytics
What you'll be doing in the role
Supporting the group rollup process and associated reporting requirements.
Working on development projects to improve systems and processes.
Working with the Head of Catastrophe Research to research and validate the catastrophe models.
Be involved in analytical projects that drive the decisions on the cat bet.
Graduate with 2.1 or above, or up to 2 year's experience within the Cat Risk or Actuarial field.
Academically excellent - Maths or Science degree from a leading University
IT literacy - some coding experience (SQL / R / Python / VBA) or similar e.g. model building and an appreciation of how technology is changing.
Creative self-starter - you'll have the ability and energy to learn under multiple learning styles then take that knowledge and creatively apply it to solve issues.
Attention to detail - tenacity to focus on the detail when it's required.
Inquisitive, analytical mind-set - a passion for pulling things apart and understanding both how they work and how they get used.
