This role will serve as the Business Intelligence (BI) interface with the relevant Business units that need Global BI services. This will involve:
  • Understanding and delivering the information requirements of management (and its customers)
  • Working with BI team to design and deliver effective reporting solutions
  • Working within the relevant BI technology platform and BI applications in place and planned to analyse the data and deliver outcomes
  • Applying analytical skills and experience to produce high level trend analysis for the Global initiatives including growth, profitability analysis, opportunity analysis and recommendations
  • Working with other areas of Global Business Services principally Data Management and Client Matter Inception to deliver and maintain accurate and effective consolidated client and matter reporting
  • Working with BI and relevant business units to communicate policy and reporting to the end user as well as providing on-going support for continuous improvement and change management

For each of the above areas of activity the role will be required to work with other work stream leaders and teams, often in different geographies. Gaining the trust of and providing solutions to, the Business Development departments around the world will be crucial to making this role a success.

Key responsibilities:

This role will assume responsibility for the production, maintenance and support of global client reporting. This will involve:
  • Working within the BI technologies in place:
    • Tableau (BBI) reporting as required
    • SAP (BOBJ/HANA/etc) reporting as required
    • SQL and sqlserver
    • Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Working closely with business users to understand and deliver the information requirements for Global BI
  • Re-develop existing dashboards using the relevant application
  • Develop thorough testing plans for BI testing both content and format
  • Assist in the on-going development of a global reporting capability fit for NRF now and into the future.
  • Working with the regions if changes to feeds/extracts are required
  • Monitoring business integrity of the data in the BI process
  • Managing the BI component of tactical cross work stream projects

For each of the above areas of activity the role will be required to work with other work stream leaders and teams, often in different geographies.

Skills and Experience Required

The functional knowledge required for this role is as follows:
  • Thorough understanding of the BI business analyst role within professional services firms
  • Extensive engagement and liaison with key stakeholders with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively
  • The ability to translate the numbers into a business facing narrative that drives action.
  • Technical competency for self-sufficient data discovery and report development
  • Understanding of the business and its drivers.
  • Interpreting, explaining and driving finance performance within the business
  • Advising on key business planning assumptions, trade-offs and opportunities
  • Influencing successful strategic and operational decisions
  • Providing ad-hoc financial analysis and insights on specific issues
  • Influencing, relationship building and communication skills
  • Experience in bridging the knowledge gap working alongside non-financial professionals
  • Understanding of Data Visualisation concepts
  • Experience with Tableau software (desktop & server), SAP BI software (BOBJ, HANA)
  • Experience with SQL Server with working knowledge of Views, Stored Procedures, Jobs and SQL Scripting
  • Ability to quickly analyse, understand and interpret business requirements
  • Strong understanding of business drivers and KPIs
  • Proven commercial experience (professional services experience will be favourably viewed but not essential for the right candidate)
  • SAP BW, HANA, BPC and/or BusinessObjects certification and/or experience highly desirable
  • Strong analytical and problem solving capability, with demonstrable experience
  • Ability to think laterally to foresee opportunities
  • Ability to demonstrate effective influence and negotiation skills,
  • Strong team player with the ability to lead work in a project environment and contribute to the work of others
  • Enthusiastic, flexible and reliable
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Strong numeracy skills
  • Experience of relationship management in professional services
  • Thorough understanding of client relationship

The following experience will be required to be demonstrated:
  • Experience in data analytics in professional services
  • Responsibility for prioritizing activities to achieve a desired outcome
  • Experience of working with demanding professionals and delivering results within pressurized timescales.
