The Team

The Business Analyst supports IT aspects of the analysis, change, and implementation of new Global Practice Management System (GPMS) processes that involve SAP, SAP BI and systems integrated with SAP.

The role reports to the BI Project Manager / work stream Lead and will work closely with all areas of IT and the business to ensure the successful implementation of GPMS.

The Role

This role is responsible for reviewing business processes, reconciling those processes with SAP BI and other systems, writing supporting documentation and advising the development and testing team on the purpose, functions and operation of the aforementioned processes.

This individual will build good working relationships with key managers, business process owners and cross-functional teams in developing a solid understanding of their business processes and providing advice on the capabilities of existing systems and other relevant technology.

The BI reporting Business Analyst will be mainly responsible for documenting the business requirements signed off by respective regional business. He/she also needs to make sure that the agreed requirements are in line with the existing regions in the application and highlight where ever the conflicts are (potentially for the local regulation and statutory requirements). He/she needs to track the requirement until the project closure to make sure these are all not lost or misinterpreted. He/she will working closely with business and co-ordinate for User Acceptance Testing approach, timeline and scenarios and also supporting Programme team as a bridge between business and technical team.

The role will include:
  • Design and develop requirements for components of large, complex projects, reaching objectives on time and within budget
  • Collaborate with individuals and teams in the development and implementation of improved business processes
  • Develop top level process flows and facilitate solution design for business systems
  • Enable Norton Rose Fulbright to exploit existing systems to their fullest potential
  • Lead and undertake the formal requirements analysis of new systems and enhancements to existing systems
  • Lead functional requirements gathering and validation for business solutions and applications
  • Where required, model business processes and facilitate their re-design by users
  • Effectively integrate systems and business processes
  • Liaise with and build relationships with key users, including partners, other fee earners and support staff
  • Liaise with IT teams to make sure that proposed solutions take account of technical and resourcing constraints
  • Build solid relationships with IT staff
  • Explore and keep step with innovations in relevant software and technologies. Within the context of identified business requirements, assess their suitability for possible implementation within Norton Rose Fulbright
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to the business and IT on proposed solutions
  • Facilitate workshops with the business and IT
  • Any other reasonable duties requested by Project Team
  • Willing to extend the working hours or flexible working hours to co-ordinate with the regional business based on the time zones (US, CANADA, EMEA and Australia)
  • Flexible in travel to regions (US & Australia) if required

Skills and Experience Required
  • Significant experience in a business analyst role within a professional services environment, preferably a law firm
  • Experience in working within multiple stakeholder environments
  • Experience in a large scale IT projects including systems integration and change management
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Business Administration or Legal academic qualifications an advantage
  • Understanding of project management methodologies (knowledge of ASAP desirable), architectural frameworks and key ITIL disciplines
  • Experience with business process design and notation tools such as BPMN or UML
  • Familiarity with HP ALM and software testing methodologies
  • Manage assigned risks and monitor potential impacts as part of the data migration plan.
  • Improve systems by studying current practices; designing modifications
  • Recommend controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures
  • Determine operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats
  • Demonstrable experience of dealing with complex, multi-stakeholder environments;
  • Strong understanding of the overall Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes (waterfall/PRINCE2, agile/Scrum), tools and technologies (including development tools, testing tools, configuration management and release management tools)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and strong abilities to develop and enhance relationships with clients and peers.
  • Flexible, pragmatic and professional approach, with ability to anticipate problems and work with incomplete information;
