We currently have an opportunity for a Bridge Engineer within our Bridges team based in Worcester. The successful person will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects.

The Worcester office undertakes a wide variety of civil engineering design and asset management work for longstanding clients. The Bridge Engineer will cover a wide range of project activities including scheme development, preliminary and detailed design, project management, asset management, inspections, procurement and construction supervision. With this range of work the successful applicant will be in a great position to complete their ICE attributes within a supportive environment and an established mentoring network.

The key responsibilities of this role include;
  • Bridge design and assessment calculations
  • Compliance with CDM Regulations
  • Cost estimating along with cost monitoring and forecasting
  • Preparing and checking inspection and technical reports
  • Assist in the management of highway structures projects
  • Liaison with third parties such as statutory bodies for consents and approvals
  • Preparation of contract documents and tender packs
  • Work planning and preparing of programmes
  • Strong time and financial management for self and potentially that of others
  • Manage projects, work package orders or discrete items of work where appropriate including financial reporting and operational delivery
  • Deliver projects and commissions, providing technical and administrative support and leadership where required
  • Use your knowledge and skills in working together with the team and other disciplines in providing an integrated service to clients
  • Provide innovative solutions in achieving best value in delivering our services

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a closely related subject
  • Graduate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers or Institution of Structural Engineers and working towards Incorporated or Chartered Status
  • Relevant experience and knowledge in the field of bridges and structures including use of structural analysis software e.g. MIDAS/Superstress/Lusas/Structural Bridge Design
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • A team player with an open and approachable nature who strives to develop their own career
  • Good planning and organisation skills
  • The ability to write good quality reports and technical papers in English
  • Fluency in spoken English
  • Full driving license

  • Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and/or Projectwise
  • Proficient in the use of Archie or RING arch analysis software
  • Experience of bridge inspections
  • Experience of intrusive testing and site investigations
