Location: Birmingham

Salary: £Competitive Package including uncapped bonus, car or cash allowance

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time, 40 hoursper week | Flexible Working Patterns Available

About the Department

Energy Solutions design, install, monitor, maintain and optimise building control systems and are part of SSE's Distributed Energy division developing solutions for smart places - cities, campuses and buildings.

Working alongside our colleagues we provide some of the most critical building and energy generation services required in a Zero Carbon world - renewable energy generation - including solar PV and battery storage solutions, heat networks, and electric vehicle charging infrastructure.

What you'll be doing

You'll be assisting building owners, building services consultants and construction contractors design building control solutions that provide efficient operating environments - whether it's saving energy, reducing carbon, increasing productivity or improving the wellbeing and experience of the people using the spaces we create - you will have a direct influence on our customers' experience of the buildings we help them deliver.

You'll be joining an experienced operational delivery team with an excellent record of delivering projects on time to a high level of customer satisfaction; with one of the largest building controls companies in the UK.

This is a sales role and building rapport with your customers is a crucial part of establishing their confidence in you and our business to deliver the working and living spaces they envisage.

No two days will be the same, unless you're working on a very large project that is, so this is definitely a role that will provide challenge, interest and satisfaction.

What is the Role?

Reporting into the Business Manager you'll execute the sales process to cultivate and manage long-term relationships. You'll be adept at seeking out, qualifying and closing new sales opportunities. You'll utilise sales tools to plan and document progress; increase business opportunities within accounts and participate as a member of the team on key and target customers.

You'll be tasked with proactively identifying and contacting new clients, cultivating and managing long-term relationships to build long term associations. This will involve understanding their business, operational and environmental objectives.

Utilising your industry experience in BMS/energy management, you'll be able to share your technical knowledge and operations expertise with clients to ensure you are able to match a solution to their business need and act as a lead generator for other SSE solutions.

Managing multiple, ongoing opportunities, you'll focus on selling new projects and retrofits differentiating SSE services and products from competitors based on business benefits.

What do I need?

To be successful in this role you'll be educated to a minimum of HNC in an engineering related discipline and have previous HVAC Building Management Systems experience. With a determination to grow our business, you'll enjoy proactively contacting new clients and be comfortable presenting them with solutions to their BMS requirements. Due to the nature of the project environment you will be working in, you will enjoy working in a solutions, target and deadline driven environment.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills will be some of your key assets along with the ability to build, nurture and maintain strong relationships with your clients. This will also be needed to maintain a collaborative working environment with all stakeholders including customer and external service providers.

It is expected you'll display a professional manner and a dedication to meeting customer expectations, including delivering technical support, coaching and direction. You'll be working in an ever-changing environment and as such will be adaptable and flexible.

As you will be traveling to different sites it is essential that you hold a full driving licence.
