The International Regulatory Affairs (IRA) department plays a vital role in Lloyd's "Customers and Distribution" strategy, protecting and developing Lloyd's trading rights, providing thought leadership in the international regulatory environment, sustaining Lloyd's relationships and credibility with international regulators, setting standards for the Lloyd's market as a compliant and ethical (re)insurer and protecting Lloyd's Brand and reputation. It also makes a significant contribution to other strategic priorities, including Market Oversight, Capital Strategy and Ease of doing Business.
The role of the International Regulatory Development (IRD) team is to manage regulatory communications and dialogue, lobbying for maintenance or improvement of Lloyd's trading rights including negotiation of new licences and monitoring and responding to legislative and regulatory developments.
The Role To support IRA's work to protect develop and enhance Lloyd's licensing, trading platform and representative position in all Lloyd's markets consistent with the commercial strategies of the market, particularly with respect to role holder's specific territories of responsibility (territories within the Asia regions).
What Will You Do?
  • Develop New Licences/trading rights: support regulatory aspects and negotiations for new licence acquisition in support of Lloyd's "Customers and Distribution" priorities and in response to internal or external business and regulatory issues. Provide regulatory input and expertise to support the development of global market access strategies and models
  • Build International Operational Model: In collaboration with other IRA functions, support regulatory projects/initiatives that impact on Lloyd's global business
  • Defend Licences/trading rights: Monitor and respond to regulatory threats to defend Lloyd's existing trading rights and support lobbying for sustained or improved trading rights for Lloyd's. Support regulatory projects/initiatives that have impact on Lloyd's global
  • International Regulatory Relations: Maintain and support Lloyd's relationships and credibility with international regulators and support international representatives in their communications with regulators. Support the development of Lloyd's regulatory messages and
  • International Compliance Guidance: Support the International Trading Advice team to deliver thought leadership and clear guidance to the Lloyd's market on international regulatory requirements. Support communication and appropriate consultation on regulatory developments with Lloyd's market and broader industry
  • Investigations case work: In collaboration with other IRA functions, support the Investigation and Standards Assurance process resulting from international regulatory non-compliance and other issues creating international regulatory
  • Key stakeholder relationship management: support the management of relationships between IRA and key stakeholders, including regulators, auditors, market associations and participants, key service-providers, international offices and Corporation
  • contribute to an open and transparent culture of risk management and demonstrate a strong awareness of the risks that should be managed within the responsibilities of the role; and
  • deliver responsibilities in line with all relevant risk appetites, policies, reporting and when applicable, membership on or input to Lloyd's risk
  • International Regulatory Risk Management: ensure the identification and management of relevant international regulatory risks, reporting to Lloyd's Risk function and Risk committees as appropriate in collaboration with the Compliance team. Support the identification of systemic issues and escalate to IRA Senior Management to highlight those issues to the market and/or internal stakeholders as

  • Experience in communicating complex information to diverse stakeholders
