Job description

As an Associate Director/Director specialising in solution architecture/process re-engineering you will work beside some of the industry's top thought leaders designing and implementing cutting-edge solutions to challenges faced by the world's leading insurers with regard to transforming their actuarial systems.

The Role

Your main responsibilities will be as follows:

  • Provide life actuarial consulting to clients on topics including:
  • Solution architecture for actuarial / risk systems;
  • Advanced financial modelling approaches and systems;
  • Finance Transformation;
  • Process re-engineering and optimization;
  • Regulatory changes, including Solvency II and IFRS17;
  • Deliver superior, consistent project management for assigned clients
  • Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client's broader business issues
  • Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through effective communication and efficient, quality execution of projects
  • Demonstrate commitment to Towers Watson professional standards in managing analyses and in communications with clients

Thought leadership
  • Lead or contribute to the development of the company's intellectual capital including plans for taking this to market
  • Think issues through and devise new approaches for creating opportunities
  • Establish a public reputation in solution architecture through the production of articles and presentations

Financial and business development
  • Meet goals for billable hours, intellectual capital development, and revenue generation
  • Develop and present proposals to potential clients, demonstrating the value of the company's offerings
  • Use contacts within current network to obtain introductions to new contacts; work to develop supporters for company's products and services

  • Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels
  • Serve as manager or mentor to more junior associates

The Requirements

We are looking for candidates with skills and qualifications that may include:
  • Depth of experience in solution architecture, workflow automation and RPA based tools
  • Experience of solution architecture in a consulting or financial services firm, with a preferred focus on life insurance
  • Designing of end-state systems for actuarial clients
  • Proficient in coding (PowerShell, SQL, SSIS)
  • Experience of coding in actuarial software (preferably WTW actuarial software, e.g. Unify, RiskAgility FM, DataValidator, although experience in other actuarial software, e.g. Prophet, Algo Financial Modeller, would also be acceptable)
  • Experience of changing or implementing actuarial reporting processes
  • Some knowledge of Solvency II and/or IFRS17 reporting requirements.
  • The ability to see the “big picture,” leveraging the resources of related practices to address the clients' business challenges
  • Experience of successfully managing projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget
  • Strong client relationship, interpersonal and team skills
  • Well-developed verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter attitude and ability to work within ambiguity
  • Flexibility and proven ability to diagnose and resolve issues
  • Strong analytical and creative skills
  • Enjoy training/mentoring junior staff
  • Availability to travel on an as needed basis, domestically and internationally

Note that the candidate does not need to have an actuarial qualification, however, knowledge of actuarial subjects would be an advantage.
