Job Description

Purpose of role To take lead day-to-day responsibility for managing the business plans of our existing third-party global partners acting as a first point of contact. Responsible for all asset specific and property portfolio aspects of Indirect Investment's activity, particularly existing business but also reviewing the property strategies of new opportunities. To support the Managing Director and Finance Director in their roles on the either the boards, management, or advisory committees of the businesses in which we are invested. Please note that Indirect Investment's partners are truly international.Whilst this is of strong appeal to many potential candidates, it does mean that the role requires a high degree of working flexibility as we operate in time zones ranging from Australia (up to eleven hours ahead) and the US West Coast (eight hours behind) and many in between.As well as the need for international travel (and necessary absence from home), it will also require emails and conference calls at all times of day, sometimes on urgent matters.Any applicant will need to be confident this way of working can be accommodated. Key responsibilities Existing Business •Develop and maintain strong working relationships with all key third-party investment partners and managers. •Understand each of the existing global property portfolios and their strategic aims and monitor performance against each agreed business plan. •Understand the evolving key risks and opportunities within each investment and evaluate business plans. •Interrogate and hold each third-party manager/ partner to account. •Articulate key risks and opportunities to the Indirect Investment team and lead the evaluation and decision-making process internally. •Review and interrogate all quarterly reports from third parties from a detailed property perspective and brief the Managing Director and Finance Director prior to the investment committee/ board meetings. •Create strong working relationships with relevant counterparties in each of the third-party management companies. •Prepare and lead the presentation of the relevant GIC reports, for both recurring meetings and as required by opportunities. New Business •Work with the Investment Director, the Associate Director of Transactions and the Senior Analyst in the analysis and interrogation of new business opportunities, particularly in asset specific and property portfolio aspects of the opportunity. •Assist the Managing Director and Investment Director to underwrite the property case for new business opportunities. •Where appropriate, work with the Investment Director to establish relationships with third parties. •Where appropriate, identify any synergy between new opportunities and existing investments and make relevant introductions. Other •Maintain relationships with key internal and external advisors (such as external legal teams, G-legal, G-tax, marketing and comms, etc). •Maintaining relationships with key personnel in the Grosvenor Holding Company and OpCos to build and maintain the profile of Indirect Investment, awareness of its activities and opportunities for shared experience. Key relationships •Interpersonal skills and the ability to build extensive strong working relationships (both internal and external) are of primary importance.This, combined with strong specialist expertise, is a key element of our team's success to date. Key requirements •Educated to degree level or above and likely to be a member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, as solid property experience and expertise is essential, although other professional qualifications may be considered if a compelling case could be made. •Suggested 5 to 15 years of post-qualification experience evidencing strong experience across the property sector. •An ability to present well at a senior level and good report writing skills are both necessary. •As well as property skills, an ability to evidence strong financial and legal experience will also be important. •International experience preferred but not a prerequisite. •A confident, conscientious hard worker with the skills and experience to make good judgement of both property and people.
