About the Role

Base Location:Flexible UK / London Preferred. We're proud to offer a Flexible First approach to work, and this role is no exception. We will, however need your base 'home' location to be one of our SSE offices around the UK.

The role

The Acquisitions analyst will have extensive involvement in origination and execution of acquisitions of ready-to-build and early-stage solar and battery storage projects, and structuring partnerships or JVs to support the pipeline. You will support project valuations and bids/offers, coordinate due diligence and governance, and help negotiate terms and legal documentation.

Reporting to the Acquisitions Manager, a successful candidate will have extensive involvement and provide support to the team across the entire deal lifecycle:
  • Origination: help establish new and maintain existing relationships with developers and other counterparties, follow up on opportunities and update pipeline reporting.


  • Value and Risk Analysis: work with support teams to enable expedient assessment of opportunities, project valuations, investment returns and to structure commercial terms offered to counterparties. Experience in navigating and interpreting complex financial models is essential.


  • Risk management: Working closely with the transaction team and commercial colleagues, help identify project-specific and market risks, assessing potential impacts on the project and develop appropriate risk mitigation strategies. Experience in project development (Planning, grid, land) is a plus.


  • Due diligence, governance and legal documentation: coordination of internal teams and external consultants involved in due diligence, governance and legal documentation of acquisitions and early-stage project development. The candidate will be involved in negotiating commercial terms and working with in-house legal and external legal advisers to ensure that the agreed deal terms are reflected in legal agreements, including confidentiality agreements, exclusivity agreements, sale and purchase agreements, and JV agreements.


  • What do I need?

    To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

    We are open to considering candidates with either financial, project development or legal background, who are interested in getting involved in transactions.

  • Background in M&A, due diligence and / or project development
  • Understanding of the acquisition deal lifecycle, typical due diligence, governance and legal documentation
  • Understanding of financial valuation and returns
  • Ability to comfortably navigate investment financial models
  • Experience reviewing information provided by sellers or consultants and identifying red flags
  • Experience in renewables, including solar and storage is strongly preferred
  • Experience drafting offers and commercial heads of terms

  • About our Business

    SSE Energy Solutions is a renewable developer and asset owner, facilitating Net Zero through the decarbonisation of the grid and major energy consumers across the UK and Republic of Ireland. A key part of SSE strategy is to facilitate change through the deployment of large-scale solar PV and battery storage. We do this by developing our own sites or acquiring projects originated by other developers.

    In November 2021, SSE announced its 'Net Zero Acceleration Programme' including £12.5bn strategic capital investment plan to 2026. A sizeable portion of this capex budget has been allocated to solar and battery storage.
