Job description

In a nutshell

This is an exciting new position within the Data Privacy Centre of Excellence where you will be ensuring privacy compliance across both Virgin Atlantic and Virgin Holidays in accordance with current data protection legislation.

You will be responsible for responding to requests for information, providing guidance to the business and coordinating activities with regards to privacy related matters with the support of the Data Protection Manager.

Day to day
Works with the Data Protection Manager to ensure the organisation is compliant with data privacy legislation.

Ensures that company data protection policies, standards and guidelines are operating effectively.

Manage and action Data Subject requests, such as subject access requests, right to be forgotten requests and requests from other organisations such as insurance companies or law enforcement.

Investigate data breaches, collaborate with the business to identify remedial actions and ensure those are implemented, supported by the Data Protection Manager.

Manage Customer Complaints relating to data protection.

Investigate any ICO Complaints and support the Data Protection Manager and DPO as required.

Conduct reviews, recommend improvements and deliver any agreed recommendations with regards to existing or new processes and controls to ensure that they are sufficiently effective to meet compliance requirements.

Document risks or remedial activity and escalate to the Data Protection Manager as required.

Support the Data Protection Manger in ensuring that the importance of data protection compliance is promoted and communicated across the business. This also includes managing Data Protection Champions and coordinating communication and awareness campaigns.

Draft and deliver data protection training across the business where required.

Be able to provide advice and guidance on data protection requirements and facilitate access to further expertise from the Data Privacy Team.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have knowledge of EU and UK Data Protection Legislation and Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations. You'll also have demonstrable experience of handling requests for information, investigating data breaches and advising the business of data protection requirements. Ideally knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements that impact on the transport, leisure and tourism sector would be advantageous.

Communication is key for this position therefore experience in presenting information in various formats, such as written reports and documents, as well as verbally through presentations and on-going stakeholder engagement is a requirement. Strong customer relations skills are also needed.
