A telephone-based protection sales/account management role on our Specialist Sales Team, reporting to the Technical Sales Manager. The Specialist Sales Team looks after a select panel of intermediaries which specialise in either HNW, Wealth, International or Business Protection. The position can either be home-based, or at our Reigate office.
Maintain and develop relationships with a select panel of accounts via telephone and email communication.
Listen to intermediaries' requirements and present appropriate solutions/education to increase the volume and quality of sales.
Develop an understanding of AIG Life's product range and 'specialist' propositions, and present them in a cohesive and professional manner - both verbally and written.
Work with other key departments within the company to ensure a high level of service is achieved.
Work closely with all members of the Intermediary Sales Team in identifying opportunities for the company to promote its product range to its target audience.
Achieve set business level targets through active management and planning.
Ensure accounts are kept fully informed of existing products/propositions and forthcoming developments.
Keep abreast of developments within the market and how this might affect our competitive position.
Ensure that all appropriate account information and notes are inputted in a timely and coherent manner.
Attend and actively participate in team meetings and share best practice with colleagues.
Secure sales from panel accounts by engaging with them on the telephone, via email and Webinar tools.
Fact-find and develop ideas and support material for engaging with advisers, including ideas to help them sell more protection business.
Work towards agreed annual objectives and KPI's including activity targets.
Provide regular feedback to the Technical Sales Manager.
Take responsibility for own personal development as a means of improving sales and reputation.
Follow the contact model for the account management of panel accounts, and record information in a clear way so as to build firm profiles.
Work closely with others in the Intermediary Sales Team to co-ordinate efforts and share ideas.
Work with the Customer Services and Underwriting teams to ensure the smooth handover of tasks required by panel accounts.
Understand AIG Life's systems and tools to ensure competent promotion of our propositions.
Be able to engage advisers and articulate views over the telephone and via email.
Understand AIG Life's protection products, propositions, systems and processes, and how we compare with competitors.
Closely manage and develop effective relationships with a panel of intermediary firms.
Empathise with advisers, understand their business, recognise the importance of using their time sparingly and respond promptly and punctually.
Be organised in researching panel business, planning key discussion issues, scheduling calls, documenting conversations, escalating and resolving issues.
Be a team player - share best practices, and work closely/collaboratively with other internal departments.
Experience in account management within a financial services environment.
Experience of telephone selling, with performance targets.
Experience of financial protection and/or wealth management sales.
A-Levels and GCSE passes in English and Maths or equivalent.
Completed or willingness to study towards an appropriate QCF Level 3 qualification in Financial Services.
An effective communicator, both verbally and written.
IT literate - including Outlook, Internet Explorer, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Organised and methodical.
Driven, results orientated with a positive outlook.
