In 2018 AIG Life Limited celebrated turning 10, the business has grown rapidly and as a result requires a capable and experienced Financial Controller to ensure that the accounting records are accurate and reported to the relevant stakeholders in a timely fashion.
Managing a team of 5, the role holder will ensure the company has robust systems and controls in place over payments, receipts and the general ledger. With AIG Lifes growth, there is also need for the role holder to lead projects to drive improvement in finance processes plus establish proper controls for new lines of business.
The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, an ability to work across business functions and have an analytical approach to problem solving .
Ensure that the accounting records are accurate and up to date, reconciled with supporting systems or information and kept to high audit standards
Meet all the reporting requirements of the Shareholder (AIG Life and Group) and all external statutory bodies.

In summary the role is ensure finance fully supports the business, and has controls and processes that are adaptable for a growing organisation.
Financial and Strategic Acumen
Finance professional with good understanding of accounting under IFRS and other regulatory reporting frameworks (USGAAP).
Strong financial and business acumen.
Strong control environment background and expertise.
Understands Life Insurance and has the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial colleagues
Good written and excellent communications skills.
Able to work cohesively in a matrix structure and in a dynamic highly-pressurised work environment.
Ability to handle multiple priorities by organising work to meet tight deadlines.
Practical experience working on reporting requirements with good knowledge of large scale consolidations.
Practical experience working on controlling requirements, understanding key controls required in a Life Insurance entity

Technical Skills & Expertise
Qualified or nearly qualified accountant or equivalent
Technical accounting expertise with understanding and interpretation of accounting policies under US GAAP and IFRS
Experience of delivering diverse financial information requirements in a complex organisation
Experience working in a financial services firm, preferably insurance
Prior work experience in a multinational organisation and matrix reporting structure preferred
