The Gender Diversity workstream has been instrumental in leading the Women In Leadership Programmes aimed at Senior and managerial level females to develop a structure for the development of women and support their career aspirations at CA and bring awareness to the development of a supporting culture for career development. The Women in Leadership Programmes consist of two programmes, including the WATT programme (Women at the Top Blackswan Programme) targetted at SVP/Senior Females which has been rolled out to 30 females.
Our Women at the Top Programme is tailored specifically to the needs of women leaders and focuses on three main areas:
- Leading self - Focus on sustained personal performance and role model desired leadership behaviours and authenticity
- Leading others - Create and represent organisational culture. Lead higher and sustained organisational performance
- Leading Business - Build the organisation in a rapidly changing environment. Be an ambassador to external stakeholders and the market.
The VIVE programme is aimed at middle management and has been rolled out to 70% of the EMEA female population in the last 3 years, with programmes scheduled across the next financial year. VIVE is a one day programme offered to middle management and above following by a 6 month mentoring programme.
Women make a significant difference to the practice of an organisation. Great working practices can be built upon 4 key factors;
Vulnerability, Intuition, Variation and Energy (VIVE!). The VIVE! programme's aim is to support females at CA Technologies to take greater control over their own career by identifying clear, practical and realistic steps. Our Mentoring Programme was made available to all VIVE participants following on from the training, whereby we encourage all participants to enrol on both the Gender specific mentoring programme and the corporate Mentoring programme in place globally. Both programmes have been extremely successful.
Level of increased motivation awareness around gender diversity piece and has inspired more people to become involved.
Through our gender network we encourage increased participation in CA effect mentoring programme and increasing mentor ability to be effective. As a result we have more women reaching out and mentoring and coaching less experienced women in our organisation especially in front office environment which is a challenging area for us. For example, for those women who have taken part in the middle management training programme 'VIVE', we have measured their lateral and vertical movements across the organisation, as well as their own engagement with development and career progression.
We have found that 46% of participants have since been laterally or vertically moved across the organisation, and since VIVE's implemention (2011), and 43% of these women who have self nominated and attended our Leadership Development Programme. For our senior leadership female development programme, Women at the Top (2011), 39% of women have since been laterally or vertically moved across the organisation.
