At UWE Bristol, we understand the importance of supporting our staff and in providing a healthy work environment and promoting health and wellbeing.
We offer support for work-related matters such as career development and the working environment, as well as personal matters such as health issues or issues at home.
The Community Hub
The Community Hub, based on Frenchay Campus, provides a wonderful space for relaxation and spiritual exploration. On-going activities in the centre include a range of complimentary therapies, life coaching, meditation and Thai Chi to name just a few.
Health and wellbeing
UWE Bristol offers a range of facilities and services to support and improve the health and wellbeing of staff. These include a generous sick pay entitlement, and occupational health advice and support.
There is a daily fruit and vegetable stall as well as a monthly Farmers Market on Frenchay Campus providing fresh produce from local traders.
Round-the-clock support
The Employee Assistance Programme offers staff access to a free confidential telephone helpline service available 24 hours per day, 365 days per year. The service offers information and advice on a whole range of personal, emotional, family, legal and financial questions that we all have to deal with from time to time and can affect us at both home and at work.
Mental Wellbeing Staff Network
We aim to support our Mental Wellbeing Staff Network by:
- Encouraging managers to release employees to participate in them.
- Promoting the networks to new and existing employees.
- Inviting representatives of staff networks to the Equality and Diversity Forum.
- Listening constructively to any employee concerns raised through the staff networks.
- Taking part in initiatives developed by the staff networks.
- Providing funding for activities, events and training.
