Working for an organisation like ours isn’t all about salary or benefits. We also invest in our employees’ health, wellbeing and development.
Your development at Santander
At Santander, you’ll find all the support and training you need to learn new skills and manage your career development.
Providing our people with varied training and learning opportunities is important to us. Your career development is in your own hands, but we’ll provide the encouragement and educational tools to help you reach your potential.
Our Learning at Santander site provides the structured development, information and support you need to progress your knowledge. For security reasons, you can only access the Learning at Santander site if you are logged in to the Santander network.
Our learning materials are available in many forms, ranging from subject-based factsheets through to structured online courses. Whether you want to expand your knowledge in your current role or focus on broader development and learn a particular subject, you’ll find the training, study materials and the support you need.
And if you need specialist training or professional qualifications to take your career to the next level, you can request the support and educational resources to help you achieve the best result.
If you are new to Santander, you’ll need to complete a number of mandatory training modules within your first 30 days of joining.
Why not have a look at the Education and Development Policy to understand our approach in more depth?
Our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is an independent telephone helpline available to colleagues and immediate members of their family. The EAP provides confidential support, guidance and advice to help resolve a wide range of issues – both professionally and personally.
Flexible work options
We’re committed to supporting our people in finding a healthy work-life balance. That’s why we offer a range of flexible work options including part-time, job share, career breaks and flexible holiday options.
Working with our unions
We have a long history of trade union recognition governed by:
- a partnership agreement with Advance – the independent trade union recognised in the former Abbey and Bradford & Bingley parts of the business
- recognition agreements with the Communication Workers Union – recognised in the former Alliance & Leicester parts of the business
Both unions are affiliated to the Trade Union Congress.
Health and safety
Helping to look after our employees’ health has mutual benefits to the individual employee and to the business.
All managers and employees have access to guidelines, standards and procedures they need to manage safety effectively through our Health and Safety Management System.
We promote physical and mental wellbeing through:
- a quarterly health and lifestyle newsletter
- an Employee Assistance Programme that offers a free, confidential, 24/7 helpline
- face-to-face counselling
