Health and Safety Policy
The Health and Safety Policy sets out the vision and high performing aspiration of London South Bank University in its approach to health and safety. The policy enables staff, students and visitors to go about their business or studies safely, and the University to provide an excellent environment for all its stakeholders.
Occupational health
LSBU have an onsite occupational health service to support us in promoting and maintaining the good health and wellbeing of our staff. The occupational health team can arrange to see staff, and provide support and advice when health problems occur.
Employee Assistance Programme
The LSBU Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) is run by Right Corecare. It’s designed to help staff deal with a range of concerns and issues, no matter how big or small, which may affect their personal lives or performance at work.
The EAP provides an opportunity to talk confidentially to an independent third party about a variety of issues:
- emotional, personal, relationship and family
- legal
- financial
- work and career, including support for managers
- signposting to support on wider issues and to support groups
Eye tests and vouchers
Staff who use display screen equiptment (DSE) and visual display units (VDU), such as computers, are entitled to eyesight tests to ensure that such work does not adversely impact on their health and safety. The University (in partnership with Specsavers) will provide an eyesight test to all staff who request one, and can provide a pair of corrective appliances if glasses are professionally deemed necessary for DSE/VDU work.
Onsite gym and fitness
The Academy of Sport at LSBU offers quality gym facilities, services and programmes to LSBU students, staff and the community. Its facilities include a large 40+ station fitness suite, equipped with brand new SMART Centre Technology for better monitoring of performance and progression, as well as a dedicated free weights room complete with a Smith machine, Olympic bars and kettlebells.
