Just over 100 women started our new 6 month development programme when it was first set up. This programme is so much more than just learning about the day job. We’ve also built in Networking Weeks, where they’ll get together with other trainees on the programme plus they’ll spend time focusing on things that help develop them personally, for example, confidence and leadership.
Two years ago their was just 2% of the engineer workforce that were women- so we decided to do something about it.
We're in thousands of our customers’ homes every week and meet customers with diverse perspectives, life styles and cultures and we want to mirror that in our workforce. Diverse teams are powerful. Multiple voices bring better balance, better ideas and are better teams overall. That’s why we’re focusing on women and it’s why we want to level the playing field and have more women across our teams.
