Supporting for parents at NPL

We offer enhanced maternity and adoption pay for our employees and have policies in place related to paternity, parental and shared parental leave. We also have an onsite nursery at our Teddington site.

WORKPLACE NURSERY *

Onsite facility to leave children during working hours.

All NPL permanent and fixed term employees are entitled to apply. Places are subject to availability and a waiting list is in operation. Places will be
allocated on a pro rata basis for part time roles.

TAX-FREE CHILDCARE

Tax-Free Childcare is a Government-backed scheme which helps parents with the cost of childcare. The scheme gives eligible families an extra 20% towards childcare costs.

MATERNITY AND ADOPTION LEAVE

39 weeks full pay, 13 weeks unpaid leave.

Permanent employees with at least 26 weeks service prior to 15th week before expected dateof childbirth. To qualify for these enhanced benefits, employees are required to return to work for a certain period after their maternity leave as laid out in the maternity policy. Other
employees who do not meet these criteria will be eligible for Statutory Maternity Leave.

PATERNITY LEAVE

10 days full pay.

All employees with at least 26 weeks service prior to 15th week before expected date of childbirth. Paternity leave must be taken within 56 days of the birth of the child.

SHARED PARENTAL LEAVE

An eligible parent has the choice to end their maternity/adoption leave early, and the other parent has the choice to opt for Shared Parental Leave.

To qualify for SPL, the mother/parent must be entitled to maternity/adoption leave. In addition, a parent wanting to take SPL is required to satisfy
the 'continuity of employment test' and their partner must meet the 'employment and earnings test'.
