Metropolitan Black Police Association at The Metropolitan Police

The Metropolitan Black Police Association (MetBPA) was formed in September 1994. We were originally formed with the goal of improving the working environment of African, Caribbean and Asian Heritage (ACA) officers and staff within the Met. The Association is actively committed to enhancing the quality of service the Met provides to ACA communities within London and to foster and maintain positive relations between the Met and ACA communities.

The MetBPA works towards achieving our aims through the delivery of the following:

• Maintaining a support network which provides support to Met staff and officers encountering difficulties at work. The support network is led by a dedicated coordinator and a number of support workers
• Maintaining a social network which plans and delivers social activities and events for our members and partners
• Working towards achieving equality of opportunity for all ACA staff working within the Met
• Working towards improving relationships between ACA communities of London and the Met
• Working with the Met to improve recruitment of ACA officers and staff and to reduce staff turnover through support schemes
• Actively participate in policy development and provide advice to the Met, particularly where draft policies would have a significant effect on ACA officers and staff or ACA communities
