Maternity Connections at University of Bristol

Maternity Connections is an informal initiative set up by the Equality and Diversity Team that enables members of staff, and in some cases PGR students, to directly contact volunteer female members of staff with experience of pregnancy at work, maternity leave and life as a working parent for support and advice. The scheme is open to all members of staff, whether you or your partner are pregnant, on maternity leave, a working parent or thinking of becoming one.

Some examples of the sorts of issues individuals may wish to discuss are:

  • Relationships with colleagues
  • Childcare choices
  • Managing breaks in research
  • Changing identities and priorities

Also available as part of the scheme are two breastfeeding experts (Doretta Caramaschi and Hazel Phillips), who are happy to answer questions and offer support regarding breastfeeding while working at the University.
