Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender + Pride (LGBT+ Pride) Bank of America

At Bank of America, we value all our differences — in background, experience or viewpoints, such as socioeconomic status, race, national origin, religion, age, gender, gender identification and expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, disabilities, and veteran status. We’re stronger when we connect our diverse backgrounds and perspectives to better meet the needs of our teammates, clients and communities. We are committed to investing in our LGBT+ communities by being a great place to work for our employees, supporting our clients and being proactive in our neighbourhoods where we live and work.

Investing in our teammates

We believe that achieving responsible growth — the right way — starts with our teammates. Our diversity makes us stronger, and the value we deliver as a company is strengthened when we bring broad perspectives together to meet the needs of our diverse stakeholders.

Bank of America was the first financial institution to offer comprehensive domestic partner benefits. We offer best-in-class benefits and programmes to support the diverse needs of employees, including LGBT+ employees from all generations, to help manage the demands and challenges through all stages of work and personal life.

Our LGBT+ Pride roots go back to the 1980s when we established the first known HR policies for managing AIDS in the work place. The bank formed the first Gay and Lesbian employee resource group in the early 1990s. Today, our LGBT+ Pride Ally Programme has grown to more than 45 chapters globally with more than 30,000 allies and out-at-work teammates.

In 2015, we established our LGBT+ Executive Leadership Council, made up of out LGBT+ executives across the world. They focus on developing, retaining and recruiting diverse executive talent and are a respected voice in the company and community.

Our internal, highly specialized Life Event Services (LES) group provides personalized support to our teammates during major life events, including gender transition. The team provides resources, benefits, counseling and more, tapping experts inside and outside the company. LES can connect them directly with other transgender teammates who have volunteered to provide direct support and guidance.

We advocate for progressive and inclusive policies and programs. Together with the more than 25,000 members of our Ally Programme, we’re visible, waving the rainbow to set an example of the importance of valuing, supporting, embracing and celebrating diversity.

Across Europe, we have participated in City Pride events in Paris, Frankfurt, Johannesburg, Zurich, London, Chester and Dublin.

Bank of America has been named as one of the most inclusive employers in the UK for LGBT+ people in Stonewall’s 2020 annual Top 100 Employers List with more than 500 employers entering, and our ranking of 28th sees us rise 22 places compared to 2019’s list.
