Health, Safety and Wellbeing at Lendlease

Health & Wellbeing Framework

Creating a better future for our people and communities is at the heart of our vision ‘to create the best places’. That includes actively caring for our people, their physical and mental health, as well as their safety.

Our Health & Wellbeing Framework combines awareness, prevention, health solutions and lifestyle management solutions to empower our employees to enhance their health and wellbeing.

The framework comprises 4 key focus areas:

  • Supporting healthier minds
  • Developing healthier bodies
  • Building healthier places
  • Creating healthier cultures

Our aim is to improve our health by giving access to services and preventative screening programmes that are either not typically available on the NHS or time constraints mean that we often struggle to prioritise them.

The majority of the health check programmes on offer are seasonal, free and open to all employees.

Lendlease is certified as a ‘Global Healthy Workplace’ for 2017 to 2019 in recognition of our focus on employee health & wellbeing.

Safety

We aim to improve our people’s lives by creating a workplace where they thrive and are more productive because they’re supported by a place that cares. Our aim is to eliminate incidents and injuries across all of our operations and sites because we want our people to return home safely and to live happy and healthy lives.

To help us achieve this our Global Minimum Requirements Framework (GMRs) sets out the minimum environment, health and safety (EHS) standards designed to control risks associated with our operations. Our GMRs apply to the entire lifecycle of a project – even before we decide if we’re going to bid for that job – ensuring that EHS principles are at the heart of everything we do

Mental Health: Creating a stigma free environment

As part of our commitment to our employees’ health, safety and wellbeing, both physical and psychological, we offer many related programmes and we have trained over 300 people as Mental Health First Aiders since our mental health programme began.  Also every new starter will attend a Mental Health First Aid awareness course as part of their Induction process.

EAP

Lendlease provide employees with free access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP).  This is a confidential counselling and information service, is available 24/7 to assist with personal or work-related problems that may be affecting health, wellbeing or performance.

Healthcare

Lendlease care about our employee’s health.  Lendlease provide a comprehensive private medical benefit which provides employees with cover for a variety of medical treatments and self-referral (without needing to visit a GP) for Musculoskeletal (physiotherapy & osteopathy), Mental Health, Cataracts and any Cancer concerns, to ensure access to treatment quickly and conveniently.  Optional Wellness checks are also provided for our employees.
