Employee Network Groups at HSBC US

We want HSBC to be a place where everyone can be themselves and achieve their full potential. Our employees lead seven global networks to promote diversity within the bank. They help to create a culture where everyone feels included. They offer advice and support where it is needed, as well as giving people with common interests a place to come together.

The seven global employee networks play a critical role in achieving HSBC’s ambitions for diversity and inclusion. They focus on gender, age, ethnicity, LGBT+, faith, working parents and carers, and ability.

Ability

  • The Ability network is dedicated to leveraging the diverse skills and abilities of employees and carers of individuals with both visible and invisible physical and mental health challenges.

Balance

  • The Balance network supports the recruitment, development, advancement and engagement of a gender-balanced workforce within HSBC.

Embrace

  • The Embrace network for ethnicity and race helps us attract, retain and engage a more diverse range of talent, and educates on embracing inclusion to support a more ethnic and multicultural workforce.

Faith

  • Our Faith network has five employee resource groups which promote tolerance and respect for all faiths and advocates the benefits of a diverse and inclusive workforce.

Generations

  • The Generations network assists HSBC goals by promoting cross-generational understanding, cooperation, networking, mentoring and facilitation of knowledge transfer.

Nurture

  • The Nurture network for Working Parents and Carers supports a family-friendly approach across HSBC through educational activities, sharing expertise, and promoting the benefits of a family diverse workforce.

Pride

  • Our Pride network supports an inclusive environment for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and other non-mainstream groups on the spectrums of sexual orientation and gender identity (LGBT+).

Every global network has two or more sponsors who help them plan their activities. This also ensures that each network’s ideas and suggestions are heard by senior leaders in the bank.

Diversity and inclusion networks have been part of HSBC for more than 40 years. The first meeting of ‘Christians in HSBC’ took place in London in 1975. The group, today part of the global Faith network, has members in 15 countries.

In addition to the seven global networks, HSBC also has a number of common interest groups which connect our employees on a variety of different topics. These common interest groups include military and veterans groups and a Chinese community group.
