If however, having researched our various programmes none of them seem quite the right route for you, why don’t you explore our main job board http://www.santanderjobs.co.uk where you can search all of the roles we are currently recruiting for – this may open up an alternative path for you

WorkWise

WorkWise is our new schools programme designed to help young people develop their employability skills through three bite sized workshops.

The materials have been developed with the support of educational specialists and teachers, all content is aligned to the school curriculum and designed to support careers guidance.

The workshops are delivered in schools and colleges by Santander employees, engaging students through interactive activities.

About the workshops

There are three interactive modules:

  • 1. Introducing the World of Work: exploring job search methods with particular reference to social media.
  • 2. Getting the interview: learning how to apply for jobs and secure an interview.
  • 3. Getting the job (or not!): developing interview techniques and what to do if you don’t get the job.

Each module contains workshops tailored for 14-16 year olds and 16-18 year olds to help young people develop employability skills at each stage of their school journey, whilst increasing their understanding of the labour market and career pathways.

Each workshop is designed to last for one hour and includes a series of activities for the students which are designed to generate open discussion.

If you would like to find out more about our WorkWise programme or arrange for a session to be delivered at your school or college, please contact us on earlyincareer@santander.co.uk.

2016 and Beyond

During 2016 we aim to offer up to 250 work experience placements through relationships with our partner charities, Career Ready UK & National Citizen Service (NCS) as well as through the relationships that we have established with schools and colleges across the UK.

It is of great importance to us that we continue to improve and develop our programme. In 2016, for the first time, we will implement a more structured and focused approach to our placements which we believe will greatly add value to the experience of both the participants and the business.

The summary below offers a high-level view of our 2 simple approaches to work experience:

  • 6 week programme that will run over during a fixed window from July through to August.
  • 2 week programme that will have a fixed window of opportunity during:
    • Easter 2016
    • July 2016
    • October 2016

We are looking forward to sharing more specific details and information in early 2016.

“I got the chance to meet lots of interesting people who were really enthusiastic about Santander and their roles and many provided me with tips about interviews and employment in general. This placement has given me the confidence and insight to look at my future career, and it is very valuable to have on my CV as it will give me a head start in securing a job.”
