Disability at Siemens

At Siemens we are committed to recruiting and supporting disabled employees in an inclusive environment. We recognise the contributions disabled employees can make and the positive impact of diversity on our business. Read on to see some of the actions we are taking to improve disability inclusion in the workplace.

Disability Confident

Siemens has been awarded Disability Confident Employer status which highlights our commitment to recruiting and supporting disabled employees. As part of this commitment, we will offer an interview to any disabled candidate who meets the minimum requirements for the job.

We have also developed a simple yet thorough process for employees and line managers to work together to organise reasonable adjustments which will enable all employees to feel supported in the workplace.

Disability Hub

Siemens has created a Disability Hub which is full of advice for employees with disabilities and long-term health conditions on the reasonable adjustment process and how to get support. It also contains advice for line managers and colleagues on how to support any colleagues with a disability or long-term health condition. It is also a platform for disabled employees to share their stories about how they have been supported in their work.

Employee Networks

Siemens AMBITION Network

AMBITION is our thriving employee network for people with disabilities and long-term health conditions. It was established with the purpose of giving employees the confidence to be themselves at work, aiming to ‘Disable the Label’ and create a culture of support within the workplace. Everyone is welcome regardless of whether they have a disability or not as we develop a more accessible workplace where employees feel confident to share their disability status and view their colleagues as allies. A significant workstream within AMBITION is the neurodiversity network with an additional specific objective of improving employment outcome for people with disabilities and to help Siemens benefit from the skills of a neurodiverse talent pool.

Creating an Inclusive Culture

Employees have access to a disability knowledge board which provides resources such as articles, videos, and podcasts to raise awareness of disabilities amongst others in the workplace. As part of our efforts to make disabled employees feel more supported, we are working with an external partner with a view to rolling out line manager training across the organisation.

During #PurpleLightUp the Siemens UK&I head office in Manchester and other sites were lit up purple to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
