Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentIs the Chief Constable´s charity for the Force to support during the 2015/2016 financial year.
Shooting Star Chase is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families. Whether lives are measured in days, weeks, months or years, they are there to make every moment count. They support families from diagnosis to end of life and throughout bereavement with a range of nursing, practical, emotional and medical care.
Their bespoke support is free of charge to families and available 365 days a year. Their care service includes short breaks at two hospices (Shooting Star House in Hampton and Christopher’s in Guildford), Hospice at Home, day care, symptom management, end-of-life care, bereavement care and a comprehensive range of therapies and support groups for the whole family.
It costs £9.5 million a year just to maintain their current level of care and, with around 10% of their income coming from government funding, they rely on their supporters’ generosity to keep the service running.
During the year we will be fundraising to help the charity.
Last year we raised a spectacular £5751.83 for the Chief’s charity, The Children’s Trust.
Through fundraising initiatives as varied as donations made during the commendation ceremonies, a raffle at the Family Christmas Carol event, the Surrey Police Fun Day or the Chief Constable’s very own Ice Bucket Challlenge.
PCC’s Grant Funding
The Police and Crime Commissioner has two funding streams available – one to commission support services which help victims to cope and recover, the second to deliver the People’s Priorities with community safety partners, voluntary and charity groups.
