Corporate and Social Responsibility at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service

Keeping the community safe

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service is at the heart of our community.  Our purpose is to protect, support and respond to the needs of Staffordshire, making the county the safest place to live, work and visit.

The Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Safer Communities Community Interest Company (CIC)

Here at our CIC we realise there are a multitude of issues that contribute towards people becoming vulnerable. Factors that can make you vulnerable include age, health problems, isolation, lifestyle and money troubles. Therefore, we want to be involved in, and lead activities that support people in all of these areas. We understand that by working together, with our communities we can help to make a difference to those affected by these issues.Safer Communities CIC Logo

We are supported by Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, an organisation that is not just about responding to fires and other emergencies. The Service invests a lot of time into preventing fires and works closely with partner agencies to make sure that people have access to the right help and support. The Service has several Community Fire Stations which offer free community meeting rooms, creating a hub for local people to come together.

They are at the forefront of fire services in this country, exploring new and innovative ways to meet today’s challenges. The CIC was formed as a great opportunity to:

  • support Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Authority in making Staffordshire the safest place to be
  • enter into partnerships to ensure that Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire has a thriving economy and is a safe, healthy and aspirational place to live
  • support public, private and voluntary sector partner organisations in delivering benefits to the community
  • use a business like approach in order to generate income, access grants, attract sponsorship and secure other funding opportunities to support local community projects
  • promote the active use of facilities within Staffordshire community fire stations to provide social opportunities to benefit the local community.

  • StreetStadia,  a mobile games stadium which travels the whole county to deliver a varied range of formal and informal physical/creative activities
  • St Gabriel’s School, the local scouts and a Tamworth community café, who worked together to design a community garden at Tamworth Community Fire Station in Belgrave.

(SESHAA, the Staffordshire Emergency Service Humanitarian Aid Association), is another charity with close links to Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service. Over its 19 year history the charity has worked across the world donating fire service equipment and giving aid and to countries where the fire and rescue service is less advanced than here in the UK.
