Welcome to VERCIDA website.
Skip to main contentUK Power Networks, which delivers Kent’s electricity supplies, gives staff two days paid leave each year to volunteer or fund raise in their local community. Last year staff gave over 2,700 hours to good causes in their communities through the company’s volunteering scheme and Megan is relying on the initiative to get the campsite superhero-ready in time. Volunteering to help the communities we serve is integral to our values, here at UK Power Networks.
Warnham Nature Reserve
Colleagues from our Income Management Team recently pulled on their wellies to dig up weeds at Warnham Nature Reserve. Altogether, staff spent almost 5,000 hours volunteering last year.
Dom's Food Mission
We have donated a van to help our engineer Dominic Warren hand out free food to homeless and vulnerable people in and around Hastings.
‘Dom’s Food Mission’ saves supermarket food from going in the bin and helps to tackle food poverty.
Mark’s and Spencer, Tesco, Morrisons and ASDA supply the food which Dom distributes to local groups such as the Seaview Project, EFT, Extract, Star and Turner House. It’s vital work and we’re delighted to help.
Highpoint Prison
We have donated a van to Highpoint Prison in Suffolk to help inmates learn how to become engineers. Work skills are vital for helping reduce the risk of reoffending when prisoners return to society and we also provide mentoring and workshops at the institution. Deputy governor of Highpoint, Stefan Wawryka said: “We think UK Power Networks is leading the way in helping public sector prisons provide meaningful opportunities for serving residents, which in turn must contribute to making society a safer place in future.”
