BAME Network at The Pensions Regulator

We are proud to be launching BAME, the most recent of TPR’s diversity networks  – which promote a culture of equality, diversity and inclusion at TPR.

For those of you who are not aware, BAME is an acronym for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, and while the new network seeks to promote an overall understanding of the issues that BAME employees face, they welcome contributions from all colleagues across the organisation

Purpose, aims and objectives

The purpose of BAME is to:

Support a diverse and inclusive working environment that encourages a culture of respect and equality for everyone, regardless of their race, ethnicity and nationality.

The proposed objectives are to:

  • establish our committee and membership, agree priorities and plan yearly events which celebrate TPR’S diversity such as Black History Month, Diwali and Chinese New Year
  • support and represent BAME members on the employee forum
  • identify potential opportunities to work in partnership with other government bodies and local charities in the support and promotion of BAME issues and interests

The proposed aims are to:

  • be a representative and visible group within TPR that promotes a culture of inclusion, and increases overall understanding of the issues that face BAME employees in the organisation, the wider community and across our stakeholders and partners
  • provide a forum for all staff to network and discuss issues of specific interest
  • act as a voice for BAME staff, offering a source of consultation and a means of communicating with the organisation about BAME issues in relation to TPR policies and practices
  • work in partnership with TPR to achieve its organisational diversity objectives, specifically focused on race equality and diversity.
