BAME initiatives at BCG

BCG works to recruit, develop, and retain top African American, Asian, and Hispanic talent for our US offices, and we offer a variety of mentoring, affiliation, and development programs designed to expand and enrich your career.

Last year, we introduced the “node” program at the office level. The network node—typically a partner or principal—oversees mentorship and affiliation programs at the office. These programs provide additional opportunities for senior leaders to coach and mentor new employees and more junior employees year-round. The affiliation activities build a network of support and development that are critical to satisfaction and retention at BCG. Development and mentor ship are also a focus of the annual diversity retreat.

In addition, there are mentorship programs focused on diversity, which go above and beyond the existing local apprenticeship and coaching offered to all interns from office sponsors, case teams, buddies, and officemates. We host diversity-centric social events in most offices to provide network opportunities on a local level.

Our diversity initiatives have earned numerous awards and recognitions, including Top 50 and Top 100 rankings from Diversity MBA and Black Enterprise magazines, respectively.

We support and sponsor numerous national conferences and organizations, including MBA JumpStart, Management Leadership for Tomorrow, and the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. At a local level with our various partner schools, we also sponsor the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and National Society of Black Engineers.

We work with leading organizations to coordinate career and interviewing workshops, presentations, lunches, and other events to recruit top graduates. Through undergraduate diversity programs such as the Bridge to Consulting Workshop, the Growing Future Leaders Internship Program, and Externships, we provide opportunities to underrepresented minorities, specifically Black/African-Americans and Hispanic/Latinos, for mentorship, learning and development and exposure to our work and culture.

In addition, the Africa Talent Program offers exceptional candidates with strong ties to or interests in Africa an opportunity to spend one to two years at one of our offices in the US or Europe before joining one of our Africa offices.
