Accessible Facilities at PA Housing

Practical support for a diverse workforce

As an employer committed to equality and diversity, PA Housing recognises that its success depends on creating a supportive working environment for its diverse workforce. PA Housing celebrates and actively nurtures staff through its policies, procedures, services and a range of cultural events.

We are committed to helping employees fulfil their potential at work while maintaining a healthy work-life balance. We offer flexitime and flexible working policy, as well as opportunities to job share where appropriate. All our policies promote equal opportunity and protect against discrimination for staff and customers.

New employees complete a pre-employment health questionnaire which allows us to discuss, with our medical screening provider, any issues so that we can make any necessary adjustments to the working environment and provide the right equipment to allow them to settle in quickly and perform their role to the best of their ability. Ongoing assessments and alterations can be made to support the employee to continue in their role, to be fully involvement within their area and to develop within the business.

We have a ‘hot desking’ approach to our working environment so employees can, with engagement with their line manager, adjust their working environment when the need arises. A number of desks are left free for individuals who cannot manage the stairs or lifts  due to an ongoing health condition.

Our flexible working policy covers:

  • Job sharing
  • Part time working
  • Compressed hours
  • Annualised hours
  • Staggered hours
  • Term time working
  • Phased retirement

All roles have been reviewed to determine what risks, if any, are associated with that position and to highlight to employees the areas that they need to be aware of . This opens up the opportunity for discussions on how to minimise risk, make reasonable adjustments and provisions for future activities.
